Lavender Flower Buds (Khuzama | Common Lavender) – Lavandula angustifolia
• Scientific Name: Lavandula angustifolia Mill. Lavender Flower Buds are small dried purple-grey florets with a delicate tubular shape, natural green undertones and a strong aromatic fragrance.
• Also Known As: Lavender Buds, Common Lavender, English Lavender, True Lavender, Garden Lavender, Khuzama, Lavande and Lavanda.
• What It’s Known For: Highly aromatic flower buds with sweet floral, herbaceous, lightly minty, pine-like and gently bitter notes. Commonly used in tea blends, lemonade, syrups, cakes, cookies, shortbread, chocolate, ice cream, herb sugar and decorative culinary preparations.
• How to Use: Add approximately ½–1 teaspoon to 200–250 ml of hot water. Cover and steep for 4–6 minutes, then strain. Use very small quantities in cooking because lavender has a concentrated flavour that can become bitter or perfumed when overused.
