Scientific Name: Hibiscus sabdariffa L. Sudanese Hibiscus Flowers are whole and naturally broken dried Roselle calyces with rich burgundy, crimson and dark red colouring.

Also Known As: Sudan Hibiscus, Sudanese Karkadeh, Karkade, Roselle, Bissap, Flor de Jamaica, Jamaica Sorrel, Red Sorrel and Whole Hibiscus Flowers.

What It’s Known For: A naturally caffeine-free botanical ingredient with a vivid ruby-red infusion and a bright tart, fruity, cranberry-like and lightly citrusy flavour. Commonly used in hot tea, iced Karkadeh, Bissap, Agua de Jamaica, fruit drinks, syrups, jams, jellies and desserts.

How to Use: Add approximately 1–2 teaspoons or 2–4 whole calyx pieces to 200–250 ml of hot water. Cover and steep for 5–10 minutes, then strain. Sweeten according to taste or combine with ginger, mint, cinnamon, cloves, lemon or orange.
