Henna Katam Powder - Buxus Dioica

Also known as: Black Katam, Yemeni Katam, Buxus Dioica, Arabian Henna, Al-Katam.

Scientific name: Buxus dioica (A rare, desert-growing shrub traditionally harvested in the Arabian Peninsula, particularly Yemen).

What it’s known for: Its unique ability to produce cool, dark brown to "chocolate" tones. Unlike pure Henna which is red, Katam provides a darker, ashy pigment that neutralizes orange tones.

How to prepare: Mix the powder with warm water to create a smooth paste. Unlike Henna, Katam should be used immediately after mixing (no long rest period required) for the best pigment release.

How it’s used: Typically mixed with Henna (Lawsonia inermis) to achieve various shades of brunette and mahogany; used as a natural, plant-based way to cover grey hair with deep, dark results.
