• Scientific Name: Chrysanthemum × morifolium (Ramat.) Hemsl. Chrysanthemum Flower Buds are small, compact dried flower heads with green outer bracts, pale yellow petals and a naturally rounded shape.
• Also Known As: Tai Ju, Taiju, Baby Chrysanthemum Buds, Chrysanthemum Tea Buds, Hangzhou Chrysanthemum Buds, Hang Bai Ju Buds, Ju Hua Buds and Florist’s Chrysanthemum Buds.
• What It’s Known For: An aromatic flower-infusion ingredient with floral, gently sweet, grassy, honey-like, lightly herbal and mildly bitter notes. Commonly prepared alone or blended with goji berries, green tea, white tea, mint, jasmine, honeysuckle, ginger and citrus peel. Research on chrysanthemum tea identifies floral and grassy aroma as prominent characteristics, with sweetness, bitterness, umami and astringency varying according to cultivar and processing.
• How to Use: Add approximately 5–8 Chrysanthemum Buds to 200–250 ml of hot water. Cover and steep for 3–5 minutes, then strain. The same buds may be steeped again with fresh hot water.
