  • Also known as: Milfoil, Thousand-Leaf, Soldier’s Herb, Nosebleed, Old Man’s Pepper, Achillea.

  • Scientific name: Achillea millefolium (A hardy perennial in the Asteraceae family, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere).

  • What it’s known for: Its delicate, umbrella-like clusters of white-to-cream flowers and its "Thousand-Leaf" (Milfoil) feathery foliage. It offers a unique flavor profile—sweet, slightly bitter, and reminiscent of anise and wild sage.

  • How to prepare: Steep 1–2 teaspoons of dried flowers in hot water (95°C) for 5–10 minutes. For a traditional "Seasonal" tonic, it is often blended with Elderflower and Peppermint to balance its earthy, spicy notes.

  • How it’s used: A cornerstone of "Grounding" and "Weather-Proofing" herbal teas; a favorite for clarifying facial steams and botanical toners; historically used as a "Gruit" (flavoring agent) in brewing before the widespread use of hops; and a rustic, aromatic addition to floral sachets and potpourri.
