  • Scientific Name: Coffea arabica L. Qishr Ghahwa consists of dried pieces of the outer skin and pulp of ripe Arabica coffee cherries, traditionally brewed as a fragrant Yemeni beverage.

Also Known As: Qishr, Qishr Ghahwa, Qishr Al-Qahwa, Qahwa Qishr, Yemeni Coffee Husk, Coffee Cherry Husk, Coffee Cascara, Coffee Cherry Tea and Dried Coffee Fruit Husk.

Traditional Yemeni Beverage: Qishr is traditionally prepared by gently brewing or simmering the dried coffee husks with ginger. Cinnamon, cardamom, cloves or sugar may also be added according to personal and regional preference.

Fruity Tea-Like Character: Unlike roasted coffee beans, coffee cherry husk produces a lighter infusion with fruity, gently tart, mildly sweet, floral, tea-like and dried-fruit notes. The exact flavour varies naturally according to the coffee variety, ripeness and drying method.

How to Prepare: Add approximately 6–9g to 250ml of hot water. Cover and steep for 5–10 minutes, then strain. For traditional Yemeni qishr, gently simmer with ginger and optional cinnamon or cardamom.

Naturally Contains Caffeine: Coffee cherry husk naturally contains caffeine, although the amount can vary according to the coffee variety, processing method, quantity used and brewing time.

AWAFI MILL Quality: Carefully selected dried Yemeni coffee cherry husk packed for traditional qishr, hot infusions, iced beverages, spiced tea blends, mocktails and culinary preparations.
